So you’re throwing a baby shower, are you? One of the best things about throwing a shower is picking the decorations. It means so much when your friend walks in, sees the banners, centerpieces, and even the food, and thinks she knows me. We are so loved.
If an ultrasound has revealed the gender for your friend’s baby, consider personalizing the shower even more with these gender-themed centerpieces for a boy or a girl. You can make them yourself, find a local spot to put them together, or have it ordered to your door from Etsy!
- Layette Bouquet:
Pick a few layette pieces (onesies, newborn gowns, small hats, etc) and wrap them tightly so they look like flowers. Pick blue, boyish options for the little guys and more feminine colors for the little gals. This centerpiece is a great gift too, because it can be disassembled and worn!

- Cake Pops:
Tell your bakery you’d like baby feet cake pops in gender-themed colors or make an order online. Display them in the middle of the table, propped in a decorative cake pop holder. A delicious option everyone will love!
- Diaper Bouquet:
Every mom needs diapers! Roll various sizes and place them on sticks in a vase with gender-themed organza. Be sure to unroll at least one and ooh and ahh over the teeny tiny size!
- ABC Blocks:
Make a stack of alphabet blocks using foam letters and gender-themed scrapbook paper. If the baby’s name is public knowledge, consider doing that instead. This centerpiece may end up on display in the nursery!
- Bassinet Centerpieces:
Get a bassinet template online and create tall, personalized signs welcoming the new baby. Hold them up with a stand made from rolled diapers, held together with a headband for girls or toddler belt for boys.
