Weddings, graduations, proms, and baby showers. It is disappointing and sad for everyone involved when special events are canceled because of the uncertainty of the world right now. But why not push forward and still celebrate mom-to-be during social distancing and have a baby shower even while in quarantine.
Here are a few ideas to plan something special for yourself and your baby on the way or to plan for your daughter, sister, BFF, or other expecting mothers in your life.
1. Virtual Baby Shower
Work meetings, TV shows, social hangouts with friends and family, dance parties, and virtual birthday parties have happened on Zoom or social media during the pandemic and so can a virtual baby shower. Catch up as a group and chat about all things baby, have mom-to-be open gifts, and/or even play a game like this or these! Also, Party In A Click really helps you organize an online baby shower quickly with this option.
2. Baby shower by Mail
Just because the baby shower is not happening, does not mean that mom-to-be (and baby) don’t deserve gifts! Gifts arriving in the mail each day will give the expecting mother the chance to get baby necessities and special baby gifts and goodies while safe at home!
3. Drive-by Baby Shower
Have you seen all the videos online of people driving by and having parades of cars go by for birthday parties? I have also seen teachers visiting students and waving, and a drive-by shower is also a great idea! Mom-to-be can stay safe on the porch and others can help gather gifts, give out favors, decorate and make it as elaborate or simple as you want!
4. Make a Video
In addition to the Shower by Mail idea and instead of an online group video chat, you can organize video messages from those who would have been invited to the baby shower! Check out this site: Tribute, which makes it easy to create a collaborative video montage! Have special friends and family members send well wishes for a healthy pregnancy and birth, and share stories about what the mom-to-be means to them and how excited they are for the expansion of the expecting mother’s family.
5. Private Baby Shower
If the pregnant mama is really insisting on not doing anything online or in-person, just stick to who she lives with and have a very intimate party at home, like this one.
What about you – have joined or been invited to any virtual celebrations in the past few months?
