We brought the twins to the beach!
They are 21 months old and have never been to the beach or played in the ocean. It just always seemed like a lot of work to get two babies and the beach gear out there, and we were also worried about the summer sun and heat. Last summer, we brought them to the lake but never the beach. There is a first time for everything!
Yesterday we headed to Nahant for a beach day with the boys.
They loved it. We quickly realized we would not be able to sit down, even for one minute. The boys ran around, in opposite directions, with one of us chasing them at all times. They played with the sand toys, and we only had one incident of trying to eat sand.
Beach Neighbors
There was a family next to us, and the dad said to Sal, “she said it would be fun, didn’t she” as he saw Sal’s look of worry when one of the boys crept too close to other groups around us. The same man said to me, “if those boys had a fitness tracker, they would’ve walked miles by now.”
Another group next to us chatted for a bit. They were twin girls! They told us they are best friends and total opposites. Our twins were hamming it up with them and staring and smiling.
Toddler Beach Time
Between social distancing and just general anxiety about them running off, it took a lot of patience, but all and all it was a good morning. We were there for about two hours, which I call a win for the first beach visit! We jumped the waves and splashed, picked up seashells, played with the shovel, bucket, and rake, and the boys ate their yogurt pouches and chugged water.
